Brooke Mueller's parents have stepped in to help with the care of twins as their daughter continues her treatment for drug addiction.

Her mother and step-father Moira and Jon Fiore were spotted with Bob and Max, two, in Los Angeles yesterday.

The 33-year-old, who allegedly pawned jewellery for money to buy crack cocaine in a rough L.A. neighbourhood earlier this month, is a rehab outpatient by day and is therefore able to return home in the evenings.

Earlier this week, Sheen lost his bid for custody of the boys.

He is understood to have been eager for the toddlers to join him on his tour, titled My Violent Torpedo of Truth - Defeat is Not an Option.

The former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen went before a Los Angeles judge Tuesday.

Sheen and Mueller finalized their divorce months ago, but it does not become official until May 2.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Hank Goldberg sealed the hearing at the request of her attorney, saying it was 'in the best interest of the children' because of 'questions of abuse and other inflammatory and emotional issues.'

The judge is understood to have been aware Mueller had relapsed - she refused to take a drug test on Friday - but he was equally disturbed by Charlie's past substance abuse and the fact that he bragged about it, sources told TMZ.

The judge decided the couple will continue to share custody under the existing agreement.

One of Sheen's girlfriends, whom he describes as goddesses, accompanied him to court and sat on a bench outside the courtroom.

The actor and his estranged wife have sparred in recent months, with Mueller accusing Sheen of threatening her with a pen knife.

Last night the actor caused quite a stir as he made a high speed dash to his latest stand up performance in Washington D.C.

Sheen and his entourage were escorted by two marked police police cars.

And a photo posted on the actor’s Twitter account shows they were travelling well above Washington's speed limit and police are now investigating the mater.
