Shannon Noll took part in the social media tradition of 'Throwback Thursday' by sharing a very gory image indeed.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday night, the 42-year-old posted an image in which his arm is sliced open, so deeply that flesh can be seen below the gashes. 

The extremely graphic photo shows a cut that circles the singer's elbow, with wide holes open and lifting off the sinew below.

Blood can be seen seeping from the wound near the elbow, but Shannon does not seem at all fussed by the horrific nature of the injury.

It's unclear when Shannon sustained the injury, however when he performed at the 2017 Deni Ute Muster, only a large purple toned scar could be seen in that spot.

It's likely the injury occurred prior to 2016's event, as the scar appeared well healed on Shannon's exposed arm.

The Deni Ute Muster is held annually in the New South Wales Riverina region. 

It comes after a massive mural depicting the rocker was spray-painted onto a wall in Sydney's Sutherland Shire.

The former Australian Idol was memorialised by artist Scott Marsh in an alleyway behind the El Sol Tortillaria Mexican restaurant.

The graffiti portrait inspired the cantina to open up the first ever Shannon Noll-themed bar for one night only.

According to The Brag, Sunday May 20 will mark the day when El Sol becomes El Noll.

Going all-out on the theme, the Mexican eatery is overhauling its normal menu to serve rock 'n' roll fans special dishes such as NOLLchos, What About Beans and Mexican Shannon Rolls.
