Shock as Woman Renovating House Finds Secret Door Hidden Behind Wallpaper

A secret hidden door found behind the wallpaper in a kitchen during a home renovation has left many people online shocked.

Home renovations give people a chance to design their homes as they want, but sometimes people can find little secrets tucked away by previous owners.

In a viral TikTok video shared by U.K.-based rachdoes, a bit of work in the kitchen turned up something completely unexpected.

In the video, rachdoes' mother can be seen bashing the kitchen wall will a hammer before the TikToker took over.

Seconds later it was found the wall had been placed over one that already existed, as well as a mysterious door.

Carefully removing parts of the wall to reveal the door, rachdoes continued to remove small pieces of debris near the door hinges.

The caption on the video read: "I can't believe this was behind my kitchen wall ft (featuring) mum making the first hole in the wall."

Unfortunately, there was no satisfying answer as to what stood behind the door or what part of the house it led to and other TikTokers were eager for updates to solve the mystery.

Since being shared on September 29, the video had attracted approximately 2.9 million views and more than 45,400 likes.

The majority of people who commented on the video eagerly awaited answers to find out where the door led to.

Tish Tash simply added: "[I] need to see behind the door."

While Tired had a pretty plausible explanation: "What's behind the door? Erm, the hallway. You can see the staircase to the right of it, so it's the original kitchen door."

Ludi May commented: "My dream is to find a hidden door to another room in my house."

Others weren't so enthusiastic to discover the hidden secret, with TikTok user Donna saying, "I've seen way too many horror movies to want to know why it's been walled up."

Newsweek has contacted rachdoes for comment via TikTok.

Earlier this year, a woman in Illinois made a shocking discovery when moving an old wardrobe in the basement of her new home. After shifting the heavy piece of furniture she discovered a veritable treasure trove of historical artifacts.

"We found a few newspaper clippings, pictures, photography paraphernalia, postcards, and a dental radiography book," the homeowner said. "But the thing that caught my eye the most was a large machine tucked neatly into the corner of the room. After doing some research... I learned that it was a photo enlarger for black and white photography."
